How a solution for one FHP family became software for the entire profession
Based in Gloucester, UK, Jack's journey with foot health began through family. With both his mother and sister working as Foot Health Practitioners, he witnessed firsthand the challenges they faced managing their practices.
"Over the last 7 years, I've helped my mum with the digital side of her FHP business. Starting as a mobile clinic, we soon discovered the issues with appointments and handling mobile services. While it was frustrating, we made it work with a few custom solutions. But it became increasingly harder when she opened a physical clinic - organizing efficiently seemed impossible."
Jack saw that mobile FHPs struggled with scheduling that didn't account for travel times and traffic, leading to late appointments and stressed practitioners. Software built for other healthcare professions simply wasn't designed for mobile foot health services.
When Jack's mother expanded to include a physical clinic, managing both mobile appointments and in-clinic sessions became even more complex. Existing software couldn't handle the hybrid nature of modern foot health practices.
How feedback from real FHPs shaped My FHP Planner
Jack started developing My FHP Planner as a solution to the unique challenges his family of FHPs faced with their practice management.
Jack spoke with numerous FHPs who shared similar frustrations with existing software. He also attended the MSB conference to research practitioners' problems from a purely research standpoint.
Being very feedback-oriented, Jack incorporated insights from over 80 FHPs to refine the software, adding key features like traffic-aware scheduling and offline notes.
My FHP Planner officially launched, bringing specialised software built by and for Foot Health Practitioners to the wider community.
